About Vastu.
Vastu is a remarkable and accurate holistic interior design system for our living and work spaces. Originating in India, Vastu shares it's cultural roots with yoga, astrology and ayurveda. While these disciplines focus on the mind and body, Vastu extends this process to the buildings in which we live and work.
Sometimes known as Vaastu or Vastu Shashtra, Vastu means 'dwelling' or 'abode'. Shastra means 'knowledge' or 'science'. Roughly translated from Hindu means 'science of dwelling places'.
Believed by scholars to be the originator of Feng Shui, Vastu has been found in the early parts of the Vedic Scriptures which are more than 6,000 years old. Feng Shui can be traced to about 4,000 years old and thought to have been introduced to China by Indian Bhuddist monks.
Though aiming for the same result, Vastu and Feng Shui are two separate systems and cannot be mixed. Different cultural and climatic conditions in China probably caused differences to develop with Feng Shui. Vastu Shastra is the original teaching and can be more profound than Feng Shui, it works with the subtle laws of nature that govern creation and aligns buldings with the natural elements and earth energies.
